Every day brings one new puzzle, the same for every player: an old battle map one day, a blurred portrait of a great commander the next. You get a single guess, and the fewer clues you need, the better your score. Share your result as a grid of squares, without giving the answer away, and come back tomorrow to keep your streak alive. Below it waits the Daily pin: one round a day of Where Was It Fought? on the world map, the same for everyone, with its own score and streak.
Battle of the Day
Frequently asked questions
What is the Battle of the Day?
A daily history puzzle. Each day there is one round, the same for everyone: either an old battle map revealed piece by piece or a blurred portrait of a commander. You answer once, at the clue of your choice.
When does a new puzzle appear?
At midnight in your own time zone. The puzzle alternates between maps and commanders, and a countdown on the result screen shows when the next one starts.
How do I share my result?
After you answer, the result shows as a row of squares: bronze for clues you revealed, gold for the clue where you got it, dark with a cross for a miss. Share it to X, Facebook or by copying it, without revealing the answer.
Can I play more than one round?
The daily puzzle is one round, but the full games have no limit: Guess the Battle from the Map, Guess the Commander and Who Won the Battle?, each drawing new rounds every time.
The turning points of history
